“This Love” by Maroon 5

I have been a fan of Maroon 5 for a long time. And I mean a loooong time. I remember going to see them at Gettysburg College back when I was in middle school, before “Harder to Breath” became their first break out song. I was standing front row, James Valentine shredding his guitar right in front me while Adam Levine pranced around the stage slinging some insane vocal runs – and the girls in the crowd were going crazy back then too.

Anyway, I saw Maroon 5 play many times after that and I still consider them to be a huge influence on my musical style to this day.

I’m sure I’ll post more covers of their music in the future. In the meantime, enjoy this little blip of “This Love” from the “Songs About Jane” album.

P&L,

Drew

Lyrics

I was so high, I did not recognize
The fire burning in her eyes
The chaos that controlled my mind
Whispered goodbye as she got on a plane
Never to return again
But always in my heart

This love has taken it’s toll on me
She said goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice ’cause I won’t say goodbye anymore

I tried my best to feed her appetite
Keep her coming every night
So hard to keep her satisfied
Kept playing love like it was just a game
Pretending to feel the same
Then turn around and leave again

This love has taken it’s toll on me
She said goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice ’cause I won’t say goodbye anymore

I’ll fix these broken things
Repair your broken wings
And make sure everything is alright
My pressure on your hips
Sinking my fingertips
Into every inch of you
‘Cause I know that’s what you want me to do

This love has taken it’s toll on me
She said goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice ’cause I won’t say goodbye anymore
